Michael Oher is in the middle of a court battle with Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy, having accused the family portrayed in ‘The Blind Side’ of fooling him into signing a conservatorship that allowed them to profit off him.
The aforementioned film was a major hit that won Sandra Bullock an award as she played Leigh Anne Tuohy, the woman who was instrumental in getting him on the roster at Ole Miss.
Oher has had an interview with Big Think in recent times in which he implies that the film was not all that accurate.
“One of the things that The Blind Side the movie didn’t tell about me is the hard work and the things that I did up until that point,” he said.
“It got thrown away a little bit, and that’s something, that’s a message that I would like for the young people to know. You put your head down. You go out. You meet people halfway. You do what’s right, you stay consistent, find discipline, and you can go out and be successful.”
Michael’s foster brothers Nate and Quwanda Hale have both expressed disappointment with the way the former NFL offensive tackle was depicted in the film. Speaking in a new CNN documentary called ‘Blindsided’, they claim a scene in which he tells Leigh Anne that he has never had his own bed is not based on fact.
Quinterio Franklin, one of Michael’s friends who played high school football with him, said he walked out of the theater in the middle of the movie as he was upset by the part where Michael was unable to read and write in high school as it’s untrue.

“I’m embarrassed for him as a friend. It’s not accurate and it’s hurtful,” he said.
Oher has said that he did not make a single penny off of the movie, accusing the Tuohys of keeping all profits to themselves. The family has denied this, accusing him of attempting to shake them down on multiple occasions. They also claim to have handed him a significant sum from the proceeds.
