The New England Patriots appear to have a quarterback conundrum on their hands, though it’s the sort of problem head coaches and offensive coordinators probably love.
Mac Jones, who was drafted in the first round, apparently has not separated himself from the QB pack as the franchise starter. The Pats gave Bailey Zappe his chances last season and, this preseason, Malik Cunningham is getting his.
The former Louisville passer went undrafted this year but has reportedly earned the admiration of head coach Bill Belichick and impressed during one half of play against the Houston Texans last week, though New England was on the losing end of a 20-9 scoreline.
Since then, he’s been getting more chances to show his stuff in practice. And, given that Belichick has not named Jones as his starter for 2023, we could see a battle for the starting spot ahead of the upcoming season.

Elliot, who was released by the Cowboys in March, has finally found a new home following a recent visit with the Pats.
