The Patriots enter this summer without a clear-cut starting quarterback as they have Jarrett Stidham, Cam Newton and Brian Hoyer on the roster fighting for the position.

Stidham, who as a rookie backing up Brady threw just four passes last season.

Of the three, Newton is the only one without experience playing for Belichick and offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, so it’s not surprising that Belichick wants to see Newton earn the job.

If Stidham continues to be wild with his passes in camp, he’s going to make Belichick’s decision much easier.
