You know things are going bad for your football club when one of your players is caught trashing his own team to the opposition.
Such is the case for the New England Patriots, who dropped an ugly contest 10-7 to the New York Giants in Week 12 to fall to 2-9 on the year. Rookie kicker Chad Ryland missed a game-tying 35-yard attempt wide left in the waning seconds that would have sent the contest to overtime.
After the contest, mic’d up New England safety Jabrill Peppers got brutally honest when he met with Giants star running back Saquon Barkley. Peppers tells his former teammate, “You lucky we a*s”.
Let’s just say Peppers better hope that no-nonsense head coach Bill Belichick better not see this.
The Patriots are enduring one of the worst seasons in franchise history. They’re on pace to finish with their worst record since 1992 (that club went 2-14), and the once-proud franchise will have gone five straight years without a postseason victory.
The Pats’ struggles in 2023 have led to plenty of speculation that the team will look to move on from head coach Bill Belichick after the season. Regardless, plenty of changes are needed one way or another if this team is to regain its winning form in the near future.
