All five of the New England Patriots’ starters on the offensive line are on the injury report ahead of Sunday’s Week 2 clash with the Miami Dolphins.
Per Doug Kyed of the Boston Herald, Trent Brown and Sidy Sow both missed Wednesday’s practice with concussions. Center David Andrews (hamstring), Mike Onwenu (ankle) and Cole Strange (knee) were all limited participants.
If all five happen to miss the game, life will be that much more difficult for quarterback Mac Jones. New England’s offensive line depth chart also consists of Atonio Mafi, Calvin Anderson, Jake Andrews, Tyrone Wheatley Jr. and Vederian Lowe.
Jones struggled under pressure from the Philadelphia Eagles’ prolific front seven on Sunday, taking two sacks and seven hits in the 25-20 loss.
The offensive line has been a strength in New England under head coach Bill Belichick for two decades, but if they’re missing the majority of their starters for Sunday? You can expect Miami defensive coordinator Vic Fangio to throw a lot of blitzes Jones’ way.
New England is trying to avoid its first 0-2 start since the 2001 season, which interestingly marked the first year the franchise won the Super Bowl with Tom Brady as their new starting quarterback.
