Why don’t we just sim the New England Patriots to a first-round bye right now?
The New England Patriots are fresh off winning their sixth Super Bowl title in franchise history, and besides the reward of the Lombardi Trophy and eventual rings, the team seems to be getting a cake-walk of a 2019 schedule this year.
This would mark the franchise having the easiest schedule for the 3rd-straight year.
According to the above report, the Patriots’ opponents have a combined projected win percentage of just .470. That is some 12 points lower than the next easiest schedule.
Out of their sixteen regular season games, they are favored to win a whooping 15 of them. The only game they aren’t favored to win is a road game against the Philadelphia Eagles, a team they lost to in the Super Bowl during the 2017-2018 season.

It really shouldn’t be a shock they have the easiest schedule as they play six games against the Miami Dolphins, Buffalo Bills, and New York Jets. Those are three franchises that have qualified for the playoffs just six times combined since 2006.
