A new betting favorite has emerged in the DeAndre Hopkins sweepstakes.
On May 26, the Arizona Cardinals released the five-time Pro Bowl wideout from his contract. Hopkins had one year remaining on his deal, and Arizona ultimately decided to cut ties after failing to find a trade for their liking.
According to DraftKings (h/t Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk), the New England Patriots are the massive +100 betting favorites to sign Hopkins. The AFC East rival Buffalo Bills have the second-best odds at +350, followed by the Tennessee Titans at +400.
It’s not surprising that the Patriots and Titans are among the top betting favorites to land the 31-year-old wideout. They were the first two teams Hopkins visited with following his release from Arizona, after all.
Hopkins was the subject of trade rumors following the Cardinals’ disappointing 2022 season. With the Cardinals opting to outright release Hopkins, they’ll take on a massive $22.6 million cap hit in dead money.
Injuries and a suspension limited Hopkins to nine games last season, but he still finished with 64 receptions for 717 yards and three touchdowns. For his career, the former Houston Texans’ star has 853 receptions for 11,298 yards and 71 touchdowns.

Hopkins has been one of the NFL’s ultimate play-making weapons dating back to his 2013 rookie year. Whichever team lands Hopkins should enjoy quite the offensive surge in 2023.
