The New England Patriots are bringing back one of the most popular NFL throwback uniforms for Sunday’s home tilt against the Miami Dolphins.
On Wednesday, the Patriots reminded the football world on X (formerly known as Twitter) that the Patriots’ will wear their red “Pat Patriot” uniforms for the “Sunday Night Football” clash with Miami at Gillette Stadium this Sunday:
Curiously, the Patriots didn’t wear these jerseys once between the 2013 and 2021 seasons. They wore them for a Week 7, 2012 home contest against the New York Jets before retiring them for the next decade.
Finally, the Patriots brought back these beloved uniforms for last year’s Week 5 home game against the Detroit Lions. It was announced before the season that the “Pat Patriot” uniforms would return for the Week 2 tilt against Miami and the Week 13 home tilt against Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers.

Bill Belichick and the Patriots are trying to avoid a disastrous 0-2 start, having lost a defensive battle 25-20 at home to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. The team hasn’t started out 0-2 since 2001, which just so happened to be the franchise’s first Super Bowl championship season.
The Dolphins have won four of the last five meetings with the Patriots, though they have just two wins in Foxborough since 2009. Miami is coming off a thrilling 36-34 opening season win over the Chargers.
