A couple of days ago, New York Jets’ Jamal Adams happened to notice that Pat Patriot, the New England patriots mascot, was receiving a copious amount of boos from the crowd in Orlando prior to the Pro Bowl, so he decided to play on it.
Adams could be seen shouting “I’m finna go knock this mascot out,” before taking off in a full sprint to tackle Pat Patriot. The next day, the mascot was taken to the hospital.
Things didn’t get any better as NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport revealed on Monday that the mascot was still dealing with some soreness just days after the incident took place.
Pat Patriot still is scheduled to attend Super Bowl LIII.
Adams clearly didn’t let the moment hinder his weekend as he went on to win defensive MVP honors Sunday with two tackles, a sack, a pass defensed and an interception.
