Sean Payton’s 1-5 Denver Broncos are one of the main teams to follow between now and the Oct. 31 trade deadline.
The postseason is a pipe dream for the Broncos at this point, but the deadline gives GM George Paton a tremendous opportunity to load up on future assets for some of his top trade chips.
Wide receivers Courtland Sutton and Jerry Jeudy have dominated the trade rumor now, and offensive tackle Garett Bolles has been recently mentioned as well. But if the right offer comes for All-Pro cornerback Patrick Surtain II, would the Broncos listen?
Broncos insider Benjamin Allbright stated that the Surtain trade rumors are “false”. He previously noted that the 21 first-round pick is also “untouchable.”
But a player like Surtain makes too much sense for a Super Bowl hopeful like the Dallas Cowboys. What if Jerry Jones and company gave the Broncos an offer for the All-Pro cornerback that they couldn’t refuse?

Dallas should offer Denver a conditional 2024 second-round pick that becomes a first if they reach the Super Bowl and 2025 third and fifth-round selections.
Surtain would give Dallas a new shutdown corner with Trevon Diggs out for the year and significantly bolster their Super Bowl chances, while Denver gets valuable assets to help them rebuild.
Even with Surtain playing at a high level, the rest of the Denver defense is a mess. They may as well get multiple draft picks for him now and rebuild the flawed roster across the board. Not to mention that trading Surtain would help their chances of winning the Caleb Williams sweepstakes.
