Kansas City fans had a nervous week as they were made to sweat over the fitness of Patrick Mahomes ahead of the AFC Championship Game vs. the Cincinnati Bengals. As it turned out, there was no need for concern as the quarterback, albeit in pain, performed impressively and made one of the most important runs of the game.
Mahomes was the one who got the first down on the Chiefs’ penultimate play, rushing to safety and winning a key foul in the process as the penalty put the Chiefs in field goal range so they could win the game with a kick.
After the game, the MVP candidate took to Twitter after the win to reveal the woman behind his performance – it was not his wife, nor was it his mother. The two women will hardly be jealous, though, given that it was KC’s physical therapist Julie Frymer.
“Julie WAS the reason i was the guy i was on the field today!” the quarterback wrote in a tweet. “It takes everyone but she lead the charge all week!!! Now let’s get Super Bowl ready!!”
According to Frymer’s profile, she has been working with the Chiefs as an assistant athletic trainer and physical therapist since 2018.

Mahomes will likely still be needing Julie’s help ahead of the Super Bowl next month. But he will have an extra week to prepare this time around.
