The Kansas City Chiefs are clearly one of the best teams in the NFL, yet they still feel like they had something to prove when they faced the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday night.
Apart from losses to Cincinnati in their last three meetings, the Chiefs had to deal with all the praise going Joe Burrow’s way, as well as the unofficial renaming of their home stadium to “Burrowhead.”
KC will be the team going to the Super Bowl this time around. But the game lived up to the hype and went down to the wire as Mahomes and co. won 23-20, courtesy of a last-gasp field goal that they probably wouldn’t have taken had the star QB not been carelessly fouled after he had already claimed a first down on a rare rushing play.
Speaking after the game, Mahomes appeared to troll Burrow. “I don’t think we have any cigars,” he said, “but we’ll be ready to go at the Super Bowl.”
The Bengals QB is known for smoking cigars to celebrate wins. It’s a habit he’s had since his college days.

Travis Kelce, on the other hand, was not as subtle as his teammate and had a few choice words for the Mayor of Cincinnati in his own interview. He also bombed Mahomes’ interview prior to that, shouting “Burrowhead my a**” before walking away.
Of course, there’s mutual respect between Mahomes and Burrow, but this is quickly turning into a rivalry.
