The day for the Chiefs likely just got worse with an injury to Patrick Mahomes.
On a 4th down play during the final quarter of the game, Mahomes took a brutal hit that left him looking concussed. His teammate immediately rushed to his side to help him get on his feet and make it over to the sidelines, where he was evaluated by the team’s medical staff.

Thankfully, Mahomes was seen on the sidelines speaking to Andy Reid afterward. He looked to be in good shape, but with the Chiefs trailing 27-3 and not much time left on the clock, there was no sense throwing the franchise quarterback out to the wolves once again. So Reid decided to keep Mahomes on the bench in favor of Chad Henne for the final few minutes.
It wouldn’t be a surprise if Mahomes opens the week with a limited practice session and an injury designation, but at this point there’s no reason to believe he’ll miss any time. This is one injury you may want to keep your eyes on over the next couple weeks, though.
