We are now over two months since Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes suffered arguably the most-watched high-ankle injury in Super Bowl history. Somehow, he still led the Chiefs to a thrilling 38-35 win over the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LVII. He even won the championship MVP trophy after throwing for 182 yards and three touchdowns, adding six carries for 44 yards.
On Monday, we finally got a much-needed update, but not the type that will make Chiefs fans feel good. Mahomes indicated to reporters that he’s still not quite 100% and has some limitations due to the injury.
“Now, it’s been more about just kind of managing it, but getting the mobility back as best I possibly can,” Mahomes explained. “I wouldn’t say I’m 100%, but I’ve had no, necessarily, limitations. When you go through the grind of the week of training, you’re trying to push it and go through the rehab process, but at the same time, you want to make sure you’re still building. You might be a little sore on the weekends, but I think we’ve done a great job of pushing it to the right limit to where now I’m throwing and stuff like that and having no limitations there. Running and cutting, there will still be a few limitations going for the next few weeks.”
Mahomes feels like he’s in a good place in terms of his rehab and recovery to be ready to go without any limitations come Week 1.
“I’m happy with where I’m at,” Mahomes said. “We’ll keep pushing it and getting me to the right spot for the beginning of the season.”
Mahomes has already established himself as one of the best quarterbacks in the league, having earned multiple Pro Bowl and All-Pro honors in his young career.
Last season, he further cemented his legacy after he led a furious comeback against the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl to bring home his second victory in the big game.

Even while hurt during the playoffs, he still managed to be damn near unstoppable on the field.
Overall, Patrick Mahomes is a talented and dynamic quarterback who has already accomplished a great deal in his NFL career and is expected to continue to be a force in the league for years to come.
If last year’s playoffs told us anything, Mahomes will not let an injury keep him down.
