On Monday, the Kansas City Chiefs signed quarterback Patrick Mahomes to the richest contract in NFL and sports history.
The 10-year, $503 million contract includes $477 million in guarantee mechanisms as well as makes him eligible for $25 million worth of performance-based incentives.
With such a large contract and the high expectations that come with it, there are some things the team will not allow him to do during his free time that would cause him to be injured.
In an interview with 610 Sports Radio on Tuesday, Mahomes revealed he’s not allowed to play basketball, in addition to not being able to ride jet skis either.
“I still don’t think I’m allowed to play basketball,” Mahomes said. “I’m sure baseball is not going to be allowed as well. I know there are a lot of [things he is prohibited from doing]. They have everything from like jet skiing to I don’t know what all the things are. I read a lot of them. It’s every pretty much physical activity you can possibly do. I’ll probably be sticking to football and video games for awhile now.”
Mahomes won’t be able to that plus whatever else the contract might state for 12 years.
The Chiefs traded up to select Mahomes with the No. 10 overall pick in the 2017 draft, and he spent one season behind quarterback Alex Smith before taking over as the starter the following year. All he would do was win the NFL MVP award his first season under center.

He would go on to win the Super Bowl LIV MVP after leading the Chiefs to a 31-20 victory over the San Francisco 49ers.
