Last month, Patrick Mahomes had turf toe surgery, as first reported by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Rapoport noted, “no issues at all,” signifying that the team is over its first offseason hurdle.
The Kansas City Chiefs QB was all smiles in a new photo with his soon-to-be bride that also showed off his post-surgery walking boot.
Mahomes suffered the toe injury in the Chiefs’ Divisional round game against the Cleveland Browns and played through it in the team’s AFC title win against the Buffalo Bills and Super Bowl LV loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
“It’s a three-month recovery, so we’re hopeful [Mahomes returns] somewhere around that mandatory minicamp, if we have it,” general manager Brett Veach said in his address to the media Monday. “We certainly think by training camp he’ll be ready to go and we’ll be smart with him.
“I would probably say Pat’s ahead of them just because of that type of injury and a quicker recovery. Hopefully we’ll have all three ready to go by training camp.”
