Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes isn’t buying the story that the Green Bay Packers stole his signal during their Week 13 loss.
The claims come on the back of Packers cornerback Keisean Nixon stating that knew the route combination the Chiefs were going for while speaking in the locker room after Green Bay won 27-19.
The defensive player would haul in a key interception on a first-and-10 during the fourth quarter, with the Chiefs trailing by five and looking set to mount a touchdown-scoring drive.
Nixon said that Mahomes tapping his knee before the snap gave it away, however, the quarterback has declared that the CB could not have known the play based on his actions as he had never done that before.
“I saw he said that: He saw the thing and knew the play,” Mahomes told reporters on Wednesday, per Yahoo Sports. “But it’s the first time I’ve checked to that play in my history of playing for the Kansas City Chiefs.”
The rbsdm.com model showed that the turnover was the most pivotal point of the game as the Chiefs lost four expected points and had their win probability drop by 20 percent.

“We were watching mannerism tape earlier in the week, and (Mahomes) tapped his knee, and they put two (receivers) off the ball,” Nixon explained. “I’m like, ‘Oh, I’ve seen this before.’ I knew he was going to run it, and he ran it.”
While Mahomes refused to admit that he gave the routes away by tapping his knee, he credited Nixon for the read.
“He definitely saw a signal,” the reigning MVP noted. “He did a great job, made a great play — a game-changing play. But just try to be more subtle, I guess, for myself to try to get us to the right spot where we can make a play happen.”
