Patrick Mahomes just put a ton of social media pressure on the Denver Broncos when it comes to whether they will play a player his salary for next season.
Denver Broncos offensive tackle Ja’Wuan James’ 2021 season is reportedly over after the big guy suffered a torn Achilles during a workout away from the team facility on Tuesday.
“James’ $10 million salary for the upcoming season now is in jeopardy being that Denver no longer is obligated to pay him with him working out off site,” Schefter wrote.
Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes saw the news and reacted with shock that the Broncos might not pay him after he got injured.
“So they are going to take his contract for working out in the off-season???” Mahomes said on Twitter.

James was expected to start at right tackle for the Broncos this season.
He played in 13 games during the 2019 season and a torn MCL that year. He opted out of the 2020 campaign due to the global pandemic, and now he likely won’t play and get paid for the upcoming 2021 season.
Tough break.
