Most 40-year-olds would be happy running a 40-yard dash and not spraining their ankle in the process, but former NFL quarterback Michael Vick was only upset because he ran a 4.72.
In 2001 before the NFL Draft, Vick ran a 4.33 40-yard dash, reaching almost 19 mph. In 2021, he ran the 40-yard dash as part of fundraising special for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital for Rich Eisen’s Run Rich Run.
The 2018 NFL MVP and current Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes had a funny reaction to seeing Vick reaching that speede at his age.
“Man he is still faster than me,” Mahomes tweeted on Sunday.
At the 2017 NFL Scouting Combine, Mahomes clocked a 4.80 in the 40-yard-dash.

Vick tweeted about the experience, giving the reasoning for why he was slower than we wanted:
“I gave it all I had and ran with purpose for a great cause! Next year I’m training harder because my right hamstring at about 27yds started hating on me as usual. Shout out to @richeisen for running 4.4.”
As for everybody else, Hall of Fame linebacker Ray Lewis ran a 5.09, special teams ace Eric Metcalf ran a 5.31, running back Terrell Davis ran a 5.03, wideout Torry Holt posted a 5.03, Hall of Famer Jerry Rice clocked in at a 5.44, and Hall of Famer Rod Woodson posted a 6.03.
