Patrick Mahomes has let the rest of the NFL know that the Kansas City Chiefs are only just getting started despite winning three Super Bowls over the last five seasons.
The Chiefs beat the San Francisco 49ers 25-22 on Sunday night, with Mahomes and Co. winning two on the bounce. They’re already setting their sights on what would be an unprecedented threepeat and, speaking to CBS Sports’ Tracy Wolfson after the game, the quarterback claimed their reign has only just begun.
Asked whether the Chiefs now have a dynasty, Mahomes said, “Yeah, it’s the start of one.”
Given the way the regular season went for KC, it would have been hard to imagine them snagging another Super Bowl. But they’ve managed to put another championship-winning campaign together to prove they simply shouldn’t be overlooked.
