Randi Mahomes, the mother of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, has shared some worrying family news ahead of the team’s AFC Championship showdown vs. the Buffalo Bills.
The Chiefs are looking to go to their third straight Super Bowl and do themselves one better once they get there, but their QB will be playing with a heavy heart as his grandfather’s health continues to decline.
Randi, who shared photos of her watching a Chiefs game from her father’s bedside at a hospital earlier in the season, has revealed that he was moved to hospice care.
“My dad is in a hospice and I’m lost for words,” she shared via her Instagram Story on Friday.
Things Aren’t Looking Great For Patrick Mahomes’ Granddad
Randi has been keeping her followers updated on her dad’s health, although she’s never disclosed what he’s dealing with. Given that he’s been moved into hospice, it doesn’t appear that there’s much hope for improvement, as such care is usually geared toward improving the quality of life for people who are terminally ill while providing counseling and support for their families.
Randi asked for prayers for her father after he was admitted to hospital in September and shared a photo of them celebrating Thanksgiving together after he was released.

Meanwhile, Patrick Mahomes has just welcomed a third child. His wife Brittany gave birth to another daughter, Golden Raye, during the Chiefs’ playoff bye week.
The quarterback will hope for another playoff win over Buffalo after helping Kansas City get past the Houston Texans in the Divisional Round, where he threw for 177 yards and a touchdown.
The game will air on CBS at 6:30 p.m. this Sunday.
