Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes seemingly mocked the Las Vegas Raiders’ following their fourth quarter meltdown against the Los Angeles Rams on Thursday night.
The Raiders have endured their fair share of heartbreaking last-minute losses over the years, but it’s hard to think of a loss as brutal as the one they endured on Thursday. They were playing a Rams team without three of its top four players in Aaron Donald, Cooper Kupp and Matthew Stafford.
Baker Mayfield played most of the game for the Rams, and he was only picked up off waivers two days ago. Even with little time to learn a whole new offense, Mayfield was able to rally his team from a 13-point deficit to defeat the Raiders.
Mahomes, who’s handed the Raiders plenty of heartbreaking losses throughout his career, had a short but epic response to the ending. Here’s what he posted in a tweet that has since been deleted:
The Raiders led 16-3 against the seemingly hapless Rams late in the fourth quarter, but Cam Akers’ one-yard rushing score with 3:19 to go gave Los Angeles some life. After forcing a Raiders punt, Mayfield pieced together an epic eight-play, 98 yard drive that was aided by a Jerry Tillery unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.
With just 10 seconds remaining, the first overall pick of the 2018 NFL Draft found Van Jefferson in the end zone for the game-tying touchdown. Kicker Matt Gay made the extra point to put the Rams ahead by one.

Rams safety Taylor Rapp picked off Derek Carr on the next possession to seal the improbable win for the defending Super Bowl champions, who moved to 4-9 on the year.
As for the disappointing Raiders, their playoff hopes are all but over now after falling to 5-8. They have already exceeded last season’s loss total (seven).
