Pat McAfee had one for Skip Bayless at the ESPYS on Wednesday night, absolutely roasting the veteran journo during his monologue.
McAfee, who is set to join ESPN soon, would introduce and celebrate Damar Hamlin during the event, branding his recovery from cardiac arrest “one of the most inspirational things that has ever happened in human history.”
The former kicker recalled the dreadful night, as well as Bayless’s ill-advised tweet.
“We all at home feared for the worst, and Skip Bayless was like, ‘Get that dead body off the field. We got playoff implications on the line!'” McAfee joked, noting that the tweet is still up.
Skip garnered nationwide angry reactions by wondering out loud how the NFL would deal with the game between the Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals, all while Hamlin was still fighting for his life.
“No doubt the NFL is considering postponing the rest of this game – but how? This late in the season, a game of this magnitude is crucial to the regular-season outcome … which suddenly seems so irrelevant,” he wrote then.

The tweet even caused a rift between Bayles and his then-Undisputed co-host Shannon Sharpe, who did not report in for work the following day. Shannon also asked Bayless to take the post down on live TV but the Cowboys apologist refused to.
“I still don’t think Skip should have put that tweet out. A little insensitive,” McAfee added after praising Hamlin.
