Pat McAfee has found himself on the end of lots of criticism over a tweet in which he jokingly referenced former Michigan State doctor Larry Nassar.
Nassar, who was recently wounded by another inmate in prison, will spend the rest of his life locked up after a reign of terror as a sexual predator. So perhaps it’s too soon to make jokes about him, the way some folks see it.
McAfee is not one of those people and, in mocking a bad alternate uniform Michigan State wore a few years ago, wrote “I think Nassar was in on the design team actually,” as a response to a friend in a tweet.
This has caused quite a firestorm, especially as the show host doubled down.
Addressing the backlash on his show on Monday, he said he was “simply linking one terrible thing from a school to the most terrible thing from a school.”
McAfee branded Nassar a “terrible human being” and explained that he didn’t mean to disrespect any of his victims.

The former NFL kicker claimed to be “simply talking S” to his friend Evan Fox, who attended Michigan State and is a videographer for ‘The Pat McAfee Show’.
Folks have even called for McAfee to be fired after agreeing to a reported $85 million contract with ESPN, but that’s probably not going to happen.
