New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft was put in an awkward spot on live television by ESPN’s Pat McAfee during his appearance on “College GameDay.”
Many expect the Patriots to part ways with legendary head coach Bill Belichick at the end of the season. The Patriots (3-10) are headed for their third losing season and non-playoff berth in four years.
During his interview with McAfee on “College GameDay”, Kraft was put on the spot when the former NFL punter hinted at Belichick being let go by the Patriots.
“I don’t envy your position,” McAfee told Kraft. “What’s about to happen. We all know. We don’t have to ask again.”
Belichick has been the head coach of the Patriots since 2000. The team didn’t have a single losing season from 2001 to 2019 with Tom Brady serving as the franchise star, and they only missed the playoffs twice in that period (2002 and 2008).
But the Patriots have already clinched just their second season of double-digit losses under Belichick (they went 5 -11 in 2000). Will Kraft decide to start afresh after two decades of unprecedented dominance? We’ll find out in the coming weeks.
