Last week, it was reported that Aaron Rodgers rejected a trade to the New England Patriots before he was sent to the New York Jets in a pre-draft blockbuster move.
But according to Rodgers’ good friend and popular sports personality Pat McAfee, there is no truth to this rumor.
Citing an inside source, McAfee stated on a recent edition of his show that Rodgers “loves Bill Belichick,” and that the four-time league MVP holds “massive respect for” the seven-time Super Bowl-winning head coach.
On one hand, New England would be the ideal place for a guy like Rodgers if he wanted to win a Super Bowl. Belichick has led the Patriots to nine AFC Championship victories and six Super Bowl titles over his 23 years of coaching in Foxborough.
But Belichick’s stern, no-nonsense policy isn’t for every player. Even Tom Brady wanted to try something new after a glorious 20-year run with the organization. And of course, Matthew Stafford reportedly made it clear he didn’t want to be traded to the Pats before the Los Angeles Rams acquired him.

It’s hard to argue that the Jets give Rodgers a better chance of winning a Super Bowl than New England. But the future Hall of Famer was clearly ultra-keen on moving to Gotham, and a reunion with old friend and offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett gives Rodgers good reason for optimism.
Not to mention the Jets have brought in several other former Packers, including Randall Cobb, Allen Lazard and Adrian Amos.
