Pittsburgh Steelers TE Pat Freiermuth is expected to miss Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams and could lose him for multiple weeks, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
Freiermuth aggravated his hamstring injury during practice Thursday, and now it looks like he’ll be sidelined Sunday and possibly beyond.
Freiermuth initially went down in Week 4 and missed Week 5 against the Baltimore Ravens. He told media earlier in the week that he would have been able to play if the team didn’t have a bye in Week 6. Now, there is no timeline for when he may be able to return to the team.
Without Freiermuth, the Steelers will continue to rely on rookie Darnell Washington and second-year tight end Connor Heyward.
Washington has just one catch for ten yards while Heyward has 5 catches for 42 yards. Both players have not scored a touchdown.
The Steelers are 3-2 and in second place in the AFC North that has every team either above .500 or tied at that number.
