Before every NFL season, fans can pretty much spot which teams are going to suck and which teams that are likely to make sure they suck so bad that they secure a top pick in the NFL Draft.
It looks like we may have spotted that team for the 2020 season.
The 2021 draft remains over a year away, but teams around the league are already scheming as to how to land Lawrence, with Bleacher Report’s Matt Miller stating that the Carolina Panthers are strongly considering tanking the 2020 season to land Lawrence in the 2021 draft.
“Something I’ve said for months on Stick to Football and Twitter is that many sources around the league think the Panthers will attempt to ‘tank’ for Trevor Lawrence (Clemson) in the 2021 class. Moves like this one make it hard to imagine they’re trying to win in 2020.”
Trevor Lawrence is shaping up to be a generational talent, and every bad franchise could use a guy like him to build around or the next 15 to 20 years.
The Panthers have been the subject of many rumors that have said they are moving on from Cam Newton and others stating they are going to have him as the starter for the season. The truth is, we won’t actually know until they make a move, and it might come during the 2020 Draft.
