Is Mac Jones a dirty player?
Jones and the New England Patriots beat the Panthers in Carolina on Sunday, 24-6, but the New England rookie quarterback still found himself in hot water following the game.
Just before the end of the first quarter, Jones was sacked on a 3rd-and-4 play by Carolina’s Brian Burns. The hit made the ball come loose and Carolina would go on to recover the fumble. During the scramble for the football, Jones could be seen grabbing and twisting Burns’ leg while on the ground.
Burns would leave the game later in the fourth quarter with a right ankle injury. After the game, Panthers linebacker Haason Reddick did not mince words on what he thought about that play.
“I thought it was completely dirty. Hopefully it’s something the league addresses,” Reddick said, via Joseph Person of The Athletic.

The CBS broadcast referenced some past bad blood between Jones and Burns. Back in high school, Jones apparently didn’t like how Burns danced and celebrated after a sack and has remembered that moment ever since.
That is a very long time to hold a grudge.
