David Tepper’s temper tantrum during the Carolina Panthers’ Week 17 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars has cost the team owner six figures.
Per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the NFL has fined Tepper $300,000 for what was deemed “unacceptable conduct” in the Panthers-Jaguars game at EverBank Stadium. Carolina lost 26-0, clinching the worst record in the league for the first time since 2010.
Here is a video of the incident that led to Tepper’s hefty fine:
Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Tepper acknowledged in a statement that his behavior was wrong, and that he accepted the discipline:

Forbes lists Tepper’s net worth at $20.6 billion, making him the NFL’s second-richest owner behind Rob Walton and his family of the Denver Broncos. The 79-year-old Walton, according to Forbes, is worth $66 billion.
The Panthers have gone a woeful 31-67-0 under Tepper since he took over as owner in 2018. Carolina has never had a winning season under Tepper’s guidance, nor have they reached the postseason.
Carolina’s best finish under Tepper’s ownership was in 2018, when they went 7-9 on the year. They have gone (in order since 2019) 5-11, 5-11, 5-12 and 7-10. They are currently 2-14, having already clinched their worst season since the 2010 group that went 2-14.
The Panthers, of course, gave up their 2024 first-round pick to the Chicago Bears as part of the Bryce Young trade. On Sunday, the Bears officially clinched the first overall pick with the Carolina loss to Jacksonville.
