If and when Drew Brees announces his retirement, there is at least one person who will be thrilled to see him gone.
Carolina Panthers linebacker Shaq Thompson told Bleacher Report’s Adam Lefkoe that while he’ll miss the rush of competing against Brees, he won’t be unhappy to see him hang up his cleats.
“I’m happy he’s gone, I’m not going to lie to you. Because that dude would slice you up real quick,” Thompson said today.
He added that he would love for Tom Brady and Matt Ryan to join him as well.
“Now we just need Tom [Brady] to get up outta here. And low-key, Matt Ryan, too,” Thompson said.
For years, Brees has been a thorn in the side of all teams in the NFC South. The division bolsters Tom Brady and Matt Ryan, who have all been to a Super Bowl, so you can see why Thompson would love for these the quarterbacks to go away.

Brady is 43 and is still going strong. He might have to wait a few more years for that to happen.
