Carolina Panthers fans are an emotional bunch.
In the second quarter of their team’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Cam Newton was sent to the bench to take a breather as Sam Darnold came into the game. Even though Newton had been struggling the fans still weren’t impressed with the decision from Matt Rhule and company.
Upon seeing Darnold come onto the field, they showered the quarterback with boos.

Those boos quickly turned to cheers when Darnold ripped off a 63-yard completion.
Before suffering an injury and being replaced by Newton earlier in the season, Darnold had struggled in his first year as the Panthers’ starting quarterback. He got the team out to a 3-0 start, but over his next six starts he threw just four touchdowns compared to 10 interceptions. The Panthers lost five of those games, dropping them to 4-5.
Things didn’t get much better after Newton took over. The Panthers have gone 1-4 since week 10 and are well out of the playoff picture in the NFC.
