One of the big storylines to come out of last week’s game between the Carolina Panthers and the New England Patriots was the awful play of quarterback Sam Darnold, and the ensuing news that he would miss several weeks with a shoulder fracture.
The other storyline was the seemingly dirty play of Patriots quarterback Mac Jones, as cameras caught him twisting the ankle of Panthers defensive end Brian Burns following a strip sack.
On Tuesday, Jones gave his side of the story, explaining that he thought Burns had the ball and he was simply trying to make a tackle. Earlier today, Burns told his side of the story, and it’s quite clear that he things Jones’ explanation is bullshit.
Burns claimed that Jones should have realized he didn’t have the ball once he realized no other players were coming to tackle him. He also pointed out that, even if he DID have the ball, Jones’ actions were still dirty and illegal.
The 2019 first round pick would eventually tell the media that he would have appreciated an apology, before encouraging his wished all he “fellow D-end brothers happy hunting.”
