Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love was perfectly blunt about his costly interception in Saturday’s Divisional Round loss to the San Francisco 49ers.
The Packers had the ball at their own 36-yard line with 52 seconds left and two timeouts in their back pocket. They just needed a field goal to force overtime, and there was still plenty of clock to work with.
But Love committed the ultimate no-no by throwing across his body…and right into the arms of 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw:
Per Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, Love admitted that he committed the “mortal sin” by throwing across his body.
“Looking back on it, yeah, throw it away. I don’t know if I had an opportunity to be able to run, maybe get out of bounds but, you know, force it across the middle late, which is a mortal sin and it cost us,” Love said. “So it’s something I’ll look at. That’s an area right there I’ll be able to look at, grow from, and get better in the future.”

It was a heartbreaking way for the Packers’ Cinderella season to end, but it was still a phenomenal run nonetheless. Few picked the Packers to be a playoff team entering 2023, let alone be just a couple of plays away from reaching the NFC Championship Game.
The future is ultra bright in Green Bay, and it starts with Love.
