Patrick Mahomes is a quarterback who has been known to make about just every pass at the right time, but he isn’t perfect. It is unlike him to crumble under pressure, but that is exactly what happened in a playoff loss to the Bengals on Sunday.
Trailing 24-21 late in the fourth quarter, it looked like Mahomes was about to lead his team to a last second touchdown.
Facing third down deep in Bengals’ territory, Mahomes dropped back to pass, found nobody, scrambled for a bit, spun out of a tackle and was eventually strip-sacked. Luckily, his teammate was right there to pick up the ball. The Chiefs had to settle for a game tying field goal, albeit even longer after the fumble.
Upon closer review, Mahomes somehow inexplicably missed two wide open receivers in the end-zone.
Instead of making the neccessary play, Mahomes was trying to make a spectacular one and it cost them big time in overtime.
Mahomes guided the Chiefs to their fourth consecutive AFC Championship Game but just came up short. Mahomes finished with 275 passing yards, three touchdown passes and two interceptions.
