Even NFL fans in London cannot stand the taunting penalties.
In the fourth quarter of the game between the Dolphins and Jaguars — Dolphins tight end Durham Smythe had just caught a pass and ran for 18 yards when he got blasted by Rayshawn Jenkins. Instead of getting ready for the next play, Jenkins stood over Smythe and did the Allen Iverson step-over, which got him flagged for taunting.
The fans in London hated it and started throwing trash on the field.
Americans and Brits don’t often agree on much, but it’s clear that the NFL’s new taunting rule is despised on both sides of the Atlantic.
As bad as the rule may be, however, it’s no excuse to throw things onto the field. This is the second time this weekend we’ve seen football fans litter the field with debris in anger. Last night the same thing happened after a controversial call in the Tennessee-Ole Miss game.
