A certain publication is taking some heat online after jolting folks with one of their headlines.
It appears the Clarion Ledger was trying to lure as many people to a particular article as possible by making it seem like the legendary Archie Manning had passed away.
Archie, a former NFL quarterback who is the father of Peyton and Eli Manning, as well as the grandfather of Arch Manning, is alive and well. But the Ledger made it seem as if he was no longer with us, getting hundreds to rush to social media to make sure the two-time Pro Bowler was still around
Of course, Manning is alive. But their X/Twitter headline on Monday night might have gotten you to believe differently.
“Archie Manning: Ole Miss football legend, dad of Eli, Peyton, grandfather of Arch, is 75,” it read.
While they didn’t say he was dead, it would be easy to reach that conclusion if you were shocked enough not to read the last word.

Fans Went In On The Ledger Over Their Strange Archie Manning Headline
Fans didn’t find the Clarion Ledger’s headline funny.
“Why did they write this like he died? What the hell is this headline,” Big Cat of Barstool Sports wrote.
“I am going to agree with everyone else that this all looked like it was going to be an Obit. Whoever wrote the tweet should be dipped in hot lava,” said reporter Kevin Noon.
“Not going to lie, the way this tweet was worded had me thinking for a split second that he died. Thankfully, he is still alive,” another user noted.
“i just almost had a heart attack,” wrote another.
“You had us worried sick,” a fan admitted.
Was this intentional? If so, that’s just messed up.
Thankfully, Archie Manning still walks among the living. That makes up for it in some way.
