Baker Mayfield may soon be headed to his next destination, even though this would upset Robby Anderson.
Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com reports that the Panthers have the “inside track” when it comes to a potential trade for Browns QB Baker Mayfield. Cabot added that a trade could happen in the next several weeks.
The report points out that Mayfield is well-suited for new Panthers OC Ben McAdoo’s up-tempo West Coast offense.
Robby Anderson was the Panthers’ second-leading receiver last season, catching 53 balls for 519 yards and five touchdowns.
The Panthers, meanwhile, went 4-7 in games started by Sam Darnold last year, and also has cap space with which to maneuver.
The 27-year-old Mayfield, who will make $18.85 million this season, became expendable after the Browns acquired Deshaun Watson from the Texans.
