A protester holding a Palestinian flag appeared on stage during the Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show featuring Kendrick Lamar.
The protester’s flag had the words “Gaza” and “Sudan” written on it.
The initial reports stated that this was a random fan, but it turns out that the unnamed guy was an actual performer since he dressed similarly to dancers during the performance. He could be seen standing on top of the 1987 Buick Grand National GNX.
During Kendrick Lamar’s performance, video and pictures show the protester being detained and led away by security.
Despite his efforts, the show continued without interruption, and it did not seem as though the person was shown on the broadcast of Lamar’s performance.
CBS reports that New Orleans police said the man was ejected from the stadium after the incident, and no arrest or summons was issued at the time. That will likely change in the very near future, however.
At this time, the guy’s identity remains unknown.

Security would detain him, and New Orleans police ejected him from the stadium. He was fortunate not to be arrested at the time, but he’s not completely out of the woods just yet.
The NFL said the person would be banned from NFL stadiums and events for life. New Orleans police have also said that an arrest could be coming, as they are “working to determine applicable charges in this incident.”

“We commend security for quickly detaining the individual who displayed the flag. He was a part of the 400-member field cast. The individual hid the item on his person and unveiled it late in the show. No one involved with the production was aware of the individual’s intent,” the league said.
Roc Nation made it clear the protest was “neither planned nor part of the production and was never in any rehearsal.”
