Super Bowl 58 was one of the greatest Super Bowls in NFL history. After going to overtime, the heavily favored Kansas City Chiefs eventually took home the Lombardi Trophy after a hard-fought battle against the San Francisco 49ers.
That was a Super Bowl match-up that many NFL fans and analysts could have easily predicted as they had already faced off one other time in the Big, where Kansas City also took home the Lombardi Trophy in Miami.
Something about one NFL analyst’s prediction does not sit right with many NFL fans, especially those who believe in cursed teams, as Gary Davenport of Bleacher Report believes the NFL could see a Super Bowl match-up between the up-and-coming Detroit Lions and the Aaron Rodgers-led New York Jets.
It should be noted that both these teams have extreme potential to be great regular season and playoff teams. Detroit showed how well they can perform in a playoff scenario, narrowly missing out on a chance to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl after falling to the 49ers in the NFC Championship.
New York, on the other hand, had an unlucky start to the season after their franchise quarterback and then-recent trade acquisition, Aaron Rodgers, suffered an injury less than five minutes into the team’s week one match-up against the Buffalo Bills and was subsequently sidelined for the rest of the season.

Davenport strengthened his point by stating, “In Mike Williams and Garrett Wilson, Rodgers has a quality duo of receivers.” He also pointed out that New York only added to the top-three defense they had just last season.
According to many sites, the Detroit Lions are one of the top three betting favorites to make the Super Bowl and win the esteemed game, which would be a first in the franchise’s history in both cases.
Either way, the 2024 season will be interesting. The Kansas City Chiefs are looking to three-peat, and if the Jets can stop that team from doing what they please, there is no telling what may be in store for Super Bowl 59.
