A shooting has ruined what was supposed to be a day of celebration in Kansas City.
The Chiefs had just completed their Super Bowl victory parade when police advised an immediate evacuation after several shots were fired near Union Station.
“Shots were fired west of Union Station near the garage and multiple people were struck. We took two armed people into custody for more investigation,” a statement from the authorities reads.
Police have confirmed that two people were arrested in connection with the shooting while multiple people were injured.
Numerous reports are claiming one person is dead as a result, with nine others nursing injuries.
“Sources tell us one dead, 9 injured. Situation still developing,” Caitlin Knute, a local reporter, said.

“We are airing a special report from ABC on the mass shooting at the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl victory parade. Police confirm one person is dead. At least 9 are hurt. Two people are in custody,” ABC’s Briana Conner reported.
“1 person has died, and at least 9 people hurt in shooting in Downtown KC. KCPD have 3 people in custody,” Fox reporter Marcus Officer claimed.
Latest reports now have the number of injured individuals at somewhere between 10 and 15.
Chiefs linebacker Drue Tranquill took to X to offer prayers. “Pray that doctors & first responders would have steady hands & that all would experience full healing,” he wrote.
Quarterback Patrick Mahomes also took to the platform to offer prayers.
