Baker Mayfield is currently in the process of trying to solidify himself as a solid starter in the NFL, but his standing at Oklahoma is cemented.
University of Oklahoma head coach Lincoln Riley announced on Monday that the former Sooners quarterback will be getting a statue and that it will unveiled during its spring game on April 18 in Norman, Oklahoma.
Mayfield was honored with the Heisman trophy after completing 70.5 percent of his passes for 4,627 yards and a 43-6 touchdown-to-interception ratio. He also led his team to the Rose Bowl.
The Cleveland Browns would reward him by selecting him No. 1 overall in the 2018 Draft and had a stellar rookie season, but regressed in 2019.
He will now be looking to prove himself under a new head coach after head coach Freddie Kitchens and GM John Dorsey were fired.
