Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud is in mourning following the death of former Buckeyes great Dwayne Haskins, who was struck by a car and died as a result of his injuries Saturday in South Florida.
Haskins was in Florida training with several of his NFL teammates not too long before he would meet his untimely demise.
On Monday, a photo surfaced of Stroud paying tribute to Haskins with a message on his jersey:
Haskins was a Heisman finalist in 2018 after claiming the Buckeyes’ single-season passing touchdown record with 50.
Haskins was a first-round pick by Washington in 2019 and played two seasons with the franchise before he was released and signed with the Steelers. He was expected to compete for snaps ahead of the 2022 campaign following the retirement of Ben Roethlisberger.
Stroud, who followed in Haskins’ footsteps with the Buckeyes, threw for 4,435 yards last season with 44 touchdowns and six interceptions as a Heisman finalist.
