A couple of days ago, former NFL player Bart Scott made waves when he stated on ESPN radio that Odell Beckham Jr. is on the trading block, and “it’s real right now.”
“Just know you heard it here first,” Scott said. “I’m telling you right now, Odell Beckham is on the trading block and it’s real right now.”
That led to Adam Lefkoe from Bleacher report to state on his podcast Thursday about how San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan has been chasing Beckham Jr. for years.
“Kyle Shannahan is obsessed with Odell Beckham with his offense, and he offered the most. [New York Giants GM Dave Gettleman] did not want to move Odell to the Niners for two reasons. He didn’t want him within the conference, so he wouldn’t trade him within the NFC, which is why he went to the Browns. No. 2, he knew Odell would be so successful with Kyle Shanahan, that the trade would make him look very, very bad, so he would not move him to the Niners.”

For the 2020 season, Odell carries a cap hit of $14.25 million and San Fran has nearly $17 million in cap space remaining. If the talks become real, GM John Lynch wouldn’t mind restructuring a contract to make the money work and bring a top notch WR aboard a team who is coming off a Super Bowl appearance.
Odell Beckham Jr. basically started the trade rumors when he reportedly told opposing players and coaches to come get him when the Browns began losing games.
If the Browns start the 2020 campaign with losing games, there is no doubt the franchise will look to move Odell and get something of value in return.
