Odell Beckham Jr. doesn’t appear to be keen on regular-season football – and who could blame him given the circumstances surrounding his knee? It’s now being reported that the Los Angeles Rams expected the wide receiver’s knee to explode last season and wouldn’t have even signed him had he completed a physical last August.
The above is according to football reporter Dove Kleiman, who claims the Rams said as much to The MMQB’s Albert Breer.
“The situation with OBJ’s knee is so bad, that #Rams people told Albert Breer that had they had his physical last year in Aug they wouldn’t had even signed him,” Kleiman tweeted this week. “They thought he wouldn’t be able to make it through the year without his knee exploding.” – They did sign him, in Nov.”
Odell Beckham Jr. Doesn’t See The Point of Playing in the Regular Season
Odell joined the Rams last November and helped fire them to Super Bowl glory earlier this year. However, he was unfortunate to suffer an ACL injury during the 23-20 win over the Cincinnati Bengals.
Beckham remains a free agent on the back of visits to the New York Giants, Buffalo Bills, and Dallas Cowboys. Dallas is reported to have had concerns after the player’s physical.
Speaking during Prime Video’s TNF in The Shop on Thursday night, the 30-year-old revealed that he’s yet to make a decision on his future, hinting he would prefer a situation that would allow him to walk straight into the playoffs.

“I haven’t made a decision, and for me, I would like to be in a stable environment, get up at 6 a.m., leave at 6 p.m. for four weeks, and then let’s talk about it,” he said. “I’ve played football for a long time. I’m not saying that I couldn’t step in and play regular season, but I don’t see the point. I really don’t. I would rather play when the pressure is on.”
As it pertains to his knee, the report is worrying as it suggests that there’s every chance of re-injury.
