A source with knowledge of the situation tells Mike Jones of USA Today that the Seahawks are worth keeping an eye on when it comes to the Odell Beckham Jr. sweepstakes. According to Jones, the Seahawks have shown “strong interest” in Beckham and QB Russell Wilson has urged the team’s brass to bring him in.
The interest is very mutual as the soon-to-be former Cleveland Browns wide receiver wants to join the Seahawks. The 49ers and Saints are two other teams mentioned as well.
Jones adds that Seattle’s front office has done extensive research on the possibility of adding Beckham.
Beckham Jr won’t officially hit waivers until Monday, but it has been reported that he would be a cancer to any losing team that tries to claim him. Beckham would like to join a contending team, whether he’s claimed on waivers or clears it.
“Pro Football Talk shared the latest on his situation:
Roughly a third of the league has the cap space to absorb Beckham’s $7.25 million compensation package over the balance of the season: the Jaguars, Eagles, Broncos, Seahawks, Panthers, Washington, Chargers, Steelers, and Bengals. Others would have to scramble on Monday to create some cap space. (It makes sense to watch for moves along those lines.)
Beckham reportedly wants to play for a contender and/or a team with a winning culture. There will be “potential issues” if a team that doesn’t land in those categories claims him.”

The Seahawks are currently ninth in the waiver order, ahead of both San Francisco and New Orleans.
In 2021, Beckham has appeared in six games for the Browns and caught 17 of 34 targets for 232 yards receiving and no touchdowns. He’s also rushed twice for 14 yards.
