Free agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. is slated to meet with an AFC team on Monday.
Beckham told Josina Anderson of CBS Sports that he’ll be flying into the New York area on Sunday for a meeting with the Jets.
Last month, Green Bay Packers’ star quarterback Aaron Rodgers revealed on “The Pat McAfee Show” that he intends to play for the Jets in 2023. The four-time league MVP stated at the time that the Jets and Packers just had to finalize trade compensation.
Fast forward to the second week of April, and there’s no real indicator on when the two sides will finalize a trade. But with the Jets presumably close to landing Rodgers, it’s no surprise that there’s mutual interest between them and OBJ.
Beckham suffered a torn ACL in the Los Angeles Rams’ Super Bowl 56 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals. He was cleared for a return in November, but no team wound up signing Beckham for the final stretch run of 2022.
If he signs with the Jets, Beckham would be joining a prolific offense featuring 2022 Offensive Rookie of the Year Garrett Wilson, star running back Breece Hall, Rodgers’ old friend Allen Lazard and Corey Davis.
