Aaron Rodgers might not be the only perennial Pro Bowler and future Hall of Famer on the New York Jets’ radar.
Last week, Rodgers announced on “The Pat McAfee Show” that he intends to play for the Jets in 2023. The four-time league MVP stated that the Jets and Green Bay Packers just need to work out the trade compensation.
A former NFL executive told Kenneth Teape of NFL Analysis Network that the Jets also have interest in future Hall of Famer and veteran wide receiver Julio Jones, who spent last season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers:
“The market for Julio Jones has been slow, but one team that has toyed with the idea of signing him is the New York Jets. Other wideouts are higher on their list, but he’s an option that has been considered.”
Injuries have limited the 34-year-old Jones to just 29 games over the last three years. The Atlanta Falcons traded him to the Tennessee Titans in 2021, but he was released after a lackluster season in which he recorded just 31 catches for 434 yards and a touchdown in 10 games.
Jones joined the Bucs on a one-year deal in free agency, but he was limited to 10 game appearances and finished with 24 receptions for 299 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
But Jones can still make plays in a limited role, and the Jets would have nothing to lose in signing him to a short-term deal. Jones would at least be a quality red zone threat for Rodgers (or whoever starts for the Jets in 2023).

The Jets signed former Packers wideout Allen Lazard to a four-year deal worth $44 million last week, assuring that at least one of Rodgers’ old friends would reunite with him in Gotham.
