On Tuesday, Charley Casserly, formerly GM in Washington and Houston and currently an NFL Network analyst, seemingly blasted Kyler Murray’s underwhelming performance in combine interviews.
“These were worst comments I ever got on a high-rated quarterback and I’ve been doing this a long time … Leadership, not good. Study habits, not good. The board work, below not good. Not good at all in any of those areas, raising major concerns about what this guy is going to do.”
The following day, he decided to pile on the former Oklahoma Sooners QB even more.
“One thing that stuck out to me: This guy was never trained for the interview. Whoever trained him did a poor job; guys do get trained for interviews now.”
Something about those comments about Murray and other Black quarterbacks seemed to strike a nerve in Nick Wright.
On Thursday’s edition of ‘First Things First,’ the co-host wanted to know why Black QBs are so easily questioned about their intelligence as opposed to what is always said about White QBs.
“I’m so sick and tired of this obvious double standard when it comes to quaterbacks intelligence. I can think of ONE white QB where, in his draft evaluation, there was a question of ‘How smart is he?’ That’s Johnny Manziel. But I can think of half a dozen black QBs in the last 5 years.”
