A major sports media personality is predicting just the second perfect season in NFL history this upcoming here.
The 1972 Miami Dolphins remain the only team in history to have gone perfect in the regular season and the postseason (17-0). The 2007 New England Patriots, of course, won their first 18 games before dropping a heartbreaker to the New York Giants in Super Bowl 42.
On the latest episode of FS1’s “First Things First”, Kansas City Chiefs’ fan Nick Wright projected that his team will go a perfect 20-0, confidently stating to “Drop the banner.”
The 2015 Carolina Panthers are the most recent team that got somewhat close to a perfect season. They started out 14-0 before losing their Week 16 road game against the Atlanta Falcons, and their bid to complete a spectacular 18-1 season ended with an ugly loss to the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl 50.
Of course, the odds of Kansas City going a perfect 20-0 are extremely low, even with the game’s best player in Patrick Mahomes. Nine of their 17 games come against teams with winning records, plus opponents like the New York Jets (they added Aaron Rodgers, of course) and Bill Belichick’s New England Patriots promise to give the defending champions some trouble.

It’s a bold prediction by Wright. But if there’s one team who can pull off the nearly-impossible task in 2023, it’s the defending champs.
Here’s how social media responded to the prediction. Fair to say that most weren’t buying it:
